MAY DAY RALLIES HELD ACROSS KERN COUNTY

Organizers of a May Day rally in Bakersfield hope it inspired attendees to get involved in local politics.

Camila Chavez from the Dolores Huerta Foundation thinks Monday’s march from Mill Creek Park to the Liberty Bell is the start of more community activism to help immigrants. Others came out to protest what they see as economic injustice and for environmental causes.

The United Farm Workers hosted three rallies in Kern County to protest President Trump’s immigration policies while the California Teacher’s Association held one in Arvin.
