A bill has passed an Assembly committee to make the almond California’s official state nut. Assembly Bill 1067 was authored by 4th graders at Sheehy Elementary School in Merced and introduced by their local representative. The kids testified at Wednesday’s hearing, the bill next heads to the full Assembly for a vote.
