SUPERVISORS OPPOSE SANCTUARY STATE

County staff is drafting a letter to the Governor that strongly opposes making California a sanctuary state.

It follows a long discussion Tuesday over the Sheriff’s rejected proposal to declare Kern a Law and Order County, with Donny Youngblood arguing several major crimes are omitted in sanctuary exemptions under Senate Bill 54, including human trafficking, domestic violence, DUI, and solicitation of murder.

David Couch backed the Sheriff while Leticia Perez was emphatically opposed, the other Supervisors felt Youngblood’s plan sent the wrong message. He plans to write to the President and Attorney’s General himself.
