Tulare County Sheriff’s deputies are warning people to stay out of the water after a Bakersfield man drowned in the Tule River.

22-year-old Jose Molina was swept away Wednesday afternoon shortly after he jumped in near a popular swimming spot known as The Stairs; his body was recovered more than a mile away.

This is the fifth death in the Tule River since April.
