SIERRA MONUMENT UP FOR REVIEW

The Interior Department has released a list of National Monuments they plan to review to possibly remove the designation. Giant Sequoia National Monument is one of the targeted facilities. Stephen Montgomery heads the Kern Kaweah Sierra Club chapter and says the monument east of Porterville had its status challenged not long after President Clinton designated it. The courts found it was in accordance with the Antiquities Act of 1906 and the monument stood, so it’s not expected to be changed. The review follows President Trump’s executive order last month to examine the process designating the monuments.
