A body has been removed from a canal next to the city’s corporation yard.The location is at Truxtun Avenue and Empire Drive in southwest Bakersfield. Fire crews responded just after 1:00 Friday afternoon and soon were able to retrieve the remains of a man in his mid 50’s. Police say the death does not appear to be suspicious, but is being investigated. It’s unclear how long the body was in the water or how it got there.
