Flags are being flown at half staff on all Kern County Fire stations after the sudden passing a Maricopa firefighter. A news release says Brian Massey had just completed a 48-hour shift Saturday when he suffered a “significant medical event” at his home. The death is considered in the Line of Duty. Brian Massey began his career as firefighter in Taft, he was 56.
