Prescribed burns are scheduled for the Giant Sequoia National Monument.The plan is to cut down on vegetation that has become overgrown due to the wet winter. 600 acres are set to be torched this week in the Ponderosa area, east of Porterville and 400 acres in the Tule River protection area. Burning projects should continue through June.
