Gov. Brown has appointed the first African-American woman ever to sit on the bench of the Kern County Superior Court. 48-year-old Gloria Cannon was announced Monday to fill the seat of retiring Judge Larry Errea. She has been a Deputy Public Defender in the county for the past 15 years.
