The rough ride on California Avenue between Oak and H streets in central Bakersfield will be smoothing out.

A low bid of just under $3 million by Granite Construction was accepted Wednesday night by the City Council for a complete, full-depth reconstruction due to its extremely poor condition. No timeline has been released yet for the work.
