TRAIN ROBBERS NEARLY DERAILED BY THEFT

The 7-and-0 Bakersfield Train Robbers baseball team made the best of a bad bounce when their clubhouse was robbed, and Field Manager Bill Moore says he’ll take the heat for that loss at Sam Lynn Ballpark. The suspect took baseballs and baseball pants and socks, sunglasses, a radar gun and even a handmade plaque from Moore’s wall, and Moore joked the culprit was trying to be an instant All-Star. The team got everything back except for a pair of Oakley glasses when the players spotted the suspect wearing their gear and called police. Moore says he’ll be sure to lock the door after Monday night’s incident. The Train Robbers beat the High Desert Yardbirds 8-6 Wednesday night at home.
