More mosquitoes are making their way to Kern County, increasing your chance of getting sick.

Kern Vector Control District Supervisor Gene Abbott says the wet winter is causing havoc everywhere with rising rivers making 15,000 more acres of water.

Public Health has launched an awareness campaign asking people to get rid of standing water. Residents are most at risk of getting bitten by Yellow Fever and Asian Tiger mosquitoes that fly low and carry West Nile Virus.
