Houchin Community Blood Bank has kicked off a 10 day mobile drive across the county to restock their shelves during the slow summer months. All blood types are accepted but O-negative is most in demand because it is given to trauma patients before their blood type is known.

Houchin needs 120 units a day to serve hospitals, cancer centers, and other healthcare providers but donations can get as low as 25 units during the summer.

  1. LeBeau-Thelen LLP, 5001 E. Commercenter #300, Bakersfield on Thursday, June 8th from 8:00-11:00a.m.
  2. Home Depot, 4001 Ming Avenue, Bakersfield on Friday, June 9th from 9:00a.m. to noon.
  3. 27800 Stallion Springs Drive, Stallion Springs on Saturday, June 10th from 9:00a.m. to 1:00p.m.
  4. Kaiser Farmer’s Market, 8800 Ming Avenue, Bakersfield on Sunday, June 11th from 9:00a.m. to 2:00p.m.
  5. 26940 Bear Valley Road, Bear Valley Springs on Tuesday, June 13th from noon to 6:00p.m.
  6. Mojave Air and Spaceport, 1434 Flight Line, Mojave on Wednesday, June 14th from 8:30-10:50a.m. and from noon-3:30p.m.
