Firefighters are investigating the cause of a grass fire that destroyed some old outbuildings in the Pumpkin Center area south of Bakersfield.

The fire that broke out around 2:30 Monday afternoon burned five-and-a-half acres along Taft Highway and Wible Road, where fences made it difficult for firefighters to enter.
