A new report says Bakersfield is number three in the country in car thefts. The National Insurance Crime Bureau has put us in the top three for the past six years and also ranks us number one in the state.

The CHP says we are more at risk for this type of crime because it is easy to hide stolen goods in rural areas. Central Valley residents are also more likely to drive older Hondas, Toyotas and pickups that are popular with thieves.
