HIGH SPEED CHASE ENDS IN DOG BITES

A shooting suspect who led police on a high speed chase is being treated for dog bites.

Bakersfield Police Sgt. Ryan Kroeker says 35-year-old Carlos Rivas fired shots in the noon hour Tuesday on Belle Terrace near West High School, and the chase included running red lights in Oildale and speeding down Highway 99 at 90 miles an hour, followed by a crash at Planz Road and H Street in south Bakersfield.

Kroeker says Rivas then ran away but was caught with the help of a police dog. No one else was hurt in the shooting or crash.
