MCCARTHY, TRUMP REACT TO DC SHOOTINGS

President Trump and House Majority Leader Congressman Kevin McCarthy of Bakersfield are tweeting about the shooting that wounded five people at a GOP baseball team practice near Washington, D.C. Both say they are praying for the victims, with McCarthy adding the “tragic moment” shows the “incredible bravery of Capitol Hill Police”.

Two officers assigned to protect Majority Whip Congressman Steve Scalise were shot as they exchanged fire with the gunman, who’s described as a middle aged man. Scalise was hit in the hip but is in stable condition. McCarthy’s last job was as Majority Whip.
