Supervisors have expanded the areas of unincorporated Bakersfield where trash collection is required.

The ordinance passed Tuesday means homes will be provided trash and recycling carts and apartment buildings will get dumpsters. The move is in response to illegal dumping and scattered trash in outlying areas.

Homeowners will pay $17.50 a month for the service.
