POWER GRID JUST FINE

PG&E says the grid should be able to handle this week’s heat wave even though temperatures will top 110 degrees.

More than 46,000 watts will be used to power air conditioners and other appliances, well short of the record, but the utility is worried some transformers may blow later in the day when it gets extremely hot.

PG&E is using hydro and solar power to generate extra watts, but may not be able to buy energy from other states because they are dealing with their own extreme heatwaves.
