HIGHWAY FIRE STALLED

Containment on the Highway Fire in the Kern River Canyon has increased to over 80 percent.The fire has slowed after more than 15-hundred acres burned.The Interagency management team says the fire stalled out not too long after it began in dry grasses and brush Sunday. But it ran into grasses and brush still green from the spring as it reached higher elevation, that slows the burn. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and more than 600 firefighters are working the lines, no structures have burned.
