GREENE DIES AFTER HOT RUN

Well known defense attorney Benjamin Greene has died after collapsing during a 5K run at Hart Park.

It was 109 degrees Tuesday evening when the 48-year-old defense lawyer passed out at the second mile. An off-duty firefighter performed CPR, however the coroner says he experienced “complications” then died at Kern Medical that night.

Greene had posted to Facebook that day that he was worried about the temperature but ran anyway.

The runs are held every summer by the Bakersfield Track Club, which says high heat is not unusual.
