KEEPING ANIMALS CALM AND COOL

Air conditioning, ice, and fans are helping animals beat the heat at the California Living Museum northeast of Bakersfield.

Zookeepers have also stepped up inspections to check for water line breaks, and Interim Curator Sharon Adams says the public can help by not throwing rocks or other items to make the animals move more than they should.

Non-native species, older animals and babies are the most likely to be treated for heat exhaustion.
