A fire that began in a garage on Kilkinny Court near Akers Road in southwest Bakersfield led to $100,000 in damage when it spread to the house.

One person was taken treated for smoke inhalation after the flames broke out at 2:00 Thursday afternoon. An electrical malfunction sparked the fire.
