UNION AVENUE ROBBER GETS PRISON

A Bakersfield man has been sentenced to 38 years to life in prison for shooting at another man during a robbery gone wrong on Union Avenue.

Deputy D.A. Marcus Cuper says Robert Thrower, Jr. fired twice after bursting into a room at the Tropicana Motel in August and reaching for the victim’s pockets. The victim was hit in the back and chest but survived.

Thrower’s two accomplices testified against him after taking plea deals.
