Kern Medical is getting ready to open up the first comprehensive epilepsy center in the Central Valley.

Neurosurgery Chief Dr. Joseph Chen says their goal is to make it easier on the 10,000 local patients currently suffering from the disorder by bringing treatments closer to them. The center will offer radiology, electrophysiology, and surgical brain stimulation through a partnership with the University of Southern California.

It is expected to open later this summer.
