HEALTH CAUTION ISSUED FOR KERN

The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District has issued a health caution as heavy smoke from the Schaeffer, Alamo, Garza, and Whittier wildfires floats into Kern County.

District spokeswoman Maricela Velasquez says the weather is not helping because the inversion layer is keeping the smoke here longer than it usually would be.

The District recommends young children, the elderly, and people with respiratory conditions stay indoors as much as possible.
