The downtown Bakersfield Post Office on 18th Street is being renamed for the late Merle Haggard. The House of Representatives voted unanimously Tuesday to honor the Bakersfield Sound pioneer.

Majority Leader and Bakersfield Republican Kevin McCarthy introduced the resolution and said he hopes it makes people remember “an icon of the community and…the music he shared with this country.”
