Local law enforcement were honored for their bravery during the 29th Annual Officer of the Year Awards in Bakersfield. CHP, Sheriff’s deputies, Bakersfield and Shafter police officers got awards Friday night for going above and beyond the call of duty.

The Kern County Law Enforcement Foundation also gave out a volunteer award on behalf of late local musician Gene Thome.
