Public works crews think it could take at least a week to repair a sinkhole that opened up along westbound Truxtun Avenue near the Westside Parkway onramp. Director Nick Fidler says drivers may experience some congestion in the area during the afternoon commute. Sand has been migrating into one of the city’s storm water collection systems. Fidler estimates the water in the sinkhole traveled up to five hundred feet away from the Kern River.
