Kern County firefighters made quick work of a grass fire early Monday that could be seen from miles away. The calls started coming in around 4:30 for smoke and flames on Panama Lane near Wible Road in south Bakersfield, not far from Greenlawn Cemetery. No word on how big the fire was or how it started.
