A Bakersfield police officer is credited with saving two teenage boys who fell into a canal off White Lane and Gosford Road. The pair were seen struggling early Saturday evening, prompting the first officer on scene to throw an improvised rescue line to Vincent Schuetz and Justin York, who tell KGET TV they’ve learned their lesson. One boy slipped and fell, the second also wound up in the water when he tried to help, both had only minor injuries.
