Bakersfield Police say they have arrested two burglars who jumped into the Kern River to escape. Ronald Valdovinos and Shellena Bonales are accused of taking the plunge after breaking into a car on Rancheria Road and Highway 178 around noon on Monday.

The vehicle’s owner rescued Bonales while City Fire saved Valdovinos a short time later.
