Bakersfield firefighters have issued a second statewide caution to stay out of the Kern River.

Chief Doug Greener thinks all those people taking the plunge has put one of California’s best search and rescue crews at risk because of the treacherous waters. The department has done 30 rescues so far this year.

At least 11 people have lost their lives in the Kern River this season with another three missing and presumed dead.
