The morning update on the Garden Fire that’s closed Hwy 178 in the Kern River Canyon shows it’s burned at least 450 acres and has the potential to grow much larger. It is zero-percent contained. That fire in China Gardens broke out around 4:20 Sunday afternoon near the Democrat Fire Station, Hwy 178 his closed at both ends of the canyon and will likely be closed all day, the alternate route is SR155-Lion’s Trail.
