KEDF SEEKS STEM, HEALTHCARE MENTORS

The Kern Economic Development Foundation is looking for business professionals to mentor high school kids, especially those in the health care and STEM professions…science, technology, engineering and math. Program Coordinator Courtney Ansolabehere says they want to fill local jobs with local people, after hearing complaints that businesses weren’t getting applicants out of high school or college that were ready to work. Mentors are paired with students in career academies at East Bakersfield and Independence High schools, the deadline to apply is Friday [8/5]. Here’s the link.
