The US Forest Service believes they are close to knocking down the 1,350 acre Garden Fire burning in the Kern River Canyon.

Sspokeswoman Amy Masi says you will see crews in the Canyon long after it’s put out to check for hot spots, as well as smoke this weekend from the roadway.

The fire is at least 65% contained and mop up operations may start as soon as this weekend.
