A judge has sentenced two former Kern County deputies who pleaded guilty to stealing marijuana from evidence lockers to three-years probation. Logan August’s attorney David Torres says his client was in charge of an eradication project and used a sheriff’s office key to get into a storage unit. Derrick Penney also go supervised release and given 250 hours of community service. The judge changed his mind about prison time saying the men were truly remorseful.
