The man accused of torturing a woman over several days in an east Bakersfield apartment has pleaded not guilty to charges that include attempted murder. Deputies say Franco Ochoa and his wife Amalia Lopez stabbed the victim with a sword and tied her up before setting the Troy Street unit on fire in June. She managed to escape, Lopez also pleaded not guilty to similar charges.
