BAKERSFIELD MAN GETS FEDERAL TIME FOR DRUG MONEY

The Bakersfield man who admitted to hiding more than $4 million in Internet drug sales in several bank accounts has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison.

US Attorney Karen Escobar says the synthetic marijuana or spice products Ramsey Farraj sold via two websites were very dangerous because they had the chemical XLR-11 that can cause kidney damage. Escobar says Farraj was caught while investigators were looking into some of his customers.

Farraj’s former business partner Mike Akroush heads to federal court next month.
