STUDYING BETTER PARKING JOBS

The Bakersfield City Council is gearing up to spend $50,000 to study ways to make parking better downtown.

Ward 2 councilman Andrae Gonzales originally proposed the idea after hearing complaints from residents. City leaders say they need to address it now as new businesses, residents, and public works projects revitalize the area.

Some of the ideas on the table are building more structures or leasing spots from the county.

The Kern Council of Governments will vote on reimbursing the city at their next meeting.
