BROWN REDUCES KILLER’S SENTENCE

Governor Brown has reduced the sentence of a woman who got life in prison for a murder and kidnapping in Kern County in 1993.

Mary Stroder will now spend 25-years-to-life for taking a woman from Valley Plaza Mall in Bakersfield, robbing, then shooting her in Taft. Stroder was described as a model prisoner who had a lifetime of abuse before the killing.

Her ex-boyfriend Charles Roundtree is on death row for the crime.
