The coroner’s office has identified a man who drowned in a canal east of Aviation Street in Shafter as 18-year-old Matthew Gonzalez of Bakersfield. The Sheriff’s Office says he had medical problems and was reported missing earlier this month before being found last Friday. Fingerprints identified the body.
