A police bomb squad was called to a Goodwill store in northwest Bakersfield after a donated item was mistaken for an explosive device. The store on Coffee Road and Espresso Drive as well as other nearby businesses were evacuated Wednesday evening while officers investigated.

The object was quickly determined to be safe.
