Veterans in need of medical care and treatment may now be able to visit a doctor in Bakersfield via a unique healthcare network.

Kern Medical Chief Strategy Officer Scott Thygerson says their facility is eligible for patients that may have been seen before but needed additional procedures, like cardiology and reconstructive plastic surgery.

Nearly 300 physicians were enrolled in the Veterans Affairs Network this summer. It is run through the Triwest Alliance.
