CROP REPORT SHOWS KERN COUNTY GAINS

Kern County could become the top Ag producer in California based on the just-released Crop Report for 2016, where the gross value was well over $7 Billion.

Ag Commissioner Glen Fankhauser says the numbers were helped by a bumper crop of pistachios last year. Drought dethroned Fresno County several years ago and dairy was down sharply last year for number two producer Tulare County.

The gross value of Kern County crops in 2016 was up six percent over the previous year.
