Students at Jefferson Elementary School in east Bakersfield have raised more than a thousand dollars for Hurricane Harvey victims. 2nd grade teacher Betty Reeves organized the week-long change drive, which she says the school does whenever there is a large-scale disaster.

The fundraiser is one of at least six Red Cross drives happening at Kern County schools.
