The fourth annual MADD Dash and Walk Like MADD events in Bakersfield have raised more than $80,000 for educational programs put on by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Retired McFarland High track coach Jim White, who inspired the young runners in the true-life movie, MCFARLAND USA, was there to cheer on hundreds of runners from local schools.

About a thousand people signed up for Saturday’s event at the Park at Riverwalk.
