AT LEAST 50 DEAD, ONE BAKO OFFICER WOUNDED IN ROUTE 91 SHOOTING

The Las Vegas strip in on lockdown this morning after a lone gunman used a rapid-fire weapon to shoot at thousands of people at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo says at least 50 people have been killed and 400 wounded by 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, who was a local resident. Paddock opened fire last night at 10:08 from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel across the street while Jason Aldean was on the stage. Many witnesses thought it was firecrackers being set off and that the gunman opened fire again after reloading twice. Lombardo says Paddock probably took his own life before law enforcement came and may have had 10 rifles with him.

KUZZ Program Director Brent Michaels says he had left the show a little early last night so he could get an early start on the drive back to Bakersfield today. He was asleep when the call came with the news. Everyone was told to stay in their rooms as the shooting unfolded, but Michaels says everyone who attended the festival as a KUZZ guest was okay.

Bakersfield Police confirm one of their officers was shot at the Route 91 venue but has non-life threatening wounds.
