A camp commander at a Ventura prison with ties to Kern County has been killed in the mass shooting in Las Vegas. The California Department of Corrections says Lieutenant Derrick Taylor attended the Route 91 Music Festival. He had worked at Wasco State Prison in 1994 before moving on to High Desert State Prison a year later.
