LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT CAUGHT UP IN ROUTE 91 ATTACK

A Bakersfield police officer is recovering in a Las Vegas hospital after he was shot during the Route 91 Festival attack. Officer Aaron Mundhenke was at the concert with his wife Sunday night when he was struck in the hip; the bullet broke his pelvis. None of the other 10 off-duty BPD officers at the concert were hurt.

The Kern County firefighters union says seven of its members were at the festival in Las Vegas when the shooting started but all are okay. However, some of their family members and friends are recovering from minor gunshot wounds.

News reports also say off-duty Sheriff’s deputies were at the festival, but it is unclear if any were hurt.
